IB (International Baccalaureate) - Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)
Tailor Made Vietnam can coordinate CAS programs of any length as part of the IB study. Activities include: expeditions, construction projects for under privileged communities, activities with disabled children and orphans, and community development with refugee groups (Burma & Thailand). The hands-on experience provides students with an understanding of the ethics of humanitarian and environmental issues. As per the requirements of CAS, the projects require student to set goals and complete performance criteria. The program is renowned for its success in integrating academic theory with practical approaches to social development.
The International Award (the Duke of Edinburgh Award)
The International Award is an exciting self-development program for young people aged 14 - 25. To gain an award, the participant must complete activities in four sections: service, skills, physical recreation and adventurous journey.
Southeast Asia provides many opportunities for such activities, and Tailor Made Vietnam can tailor your itinerary to comply with the directives of the award. Some of the most popular activities include: orienteering and camping, construction projects, development projects, elephant trekking, hiking and rafting. Our tours encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery, and we will try to accommodate any request that piques your students' interests.
Educational Trips for Students/'Week without Walls'/special student trips.
With rich history and geographical diversity, Southeast Asia is a fabulous destination for students of any age. As a company that has escorted more students through the region than any other travel company, our experience allows us to offer students itineraries specifically designed to visit areas students are unlikely to travel to with family or friends. These itineraries offer activities that are either unavailable to or not commonly experienced by students and are designed to foster the following goals/requirements:
Inter-Personal skills: Create opportunities for students to learn how to appreciate others' differences and develop respectful relationships.
Team building: Improve trust and cooperation within the community by facing challenges and experiences together (problem solving, group planning and cooperation through exposure to new languages, traditions, cultural practices, and physical challenges).
Confidence building: Improving students' self-esteems by providing physical, intellectual and emotional challenges (new physical activity, exploring a new city, speaking a different language, functioning in an unfamiliar environment, etc.).
Cultural learning: Tolerance by exposure to new cultures; living values by promoting responsibility, cooperation and goal-setting.
Authentic learning: Providing students with hands-on-learning experiences and real-world connections to curriculum museums, science centres, environmental education, and outdoor education.
Curriculum based: Make specific and thematic connections to as many areas of the curriculum as possible; Humanities: genocide, the developing world, NGOs, orphanages
Politics: socialism, communism, social justice, authoritarianism, fledgling democracies
Society & culture: present & past Cambodia, religion - Islam, Cao Daism, Buddhism
History: Thai history, Indochina, Khmer Rouge Period, Khmer civilization, conflict Indochina, colonization, geography (human & physical): Ha Long Bay, hill tribes, Mekong delta, Irrawaddy Delta, Angkor Temples
