Laos discovery trip

Day 1 & 2 Vientiane Day one is arrival day in the Laotian capital of Vientiane. This afternoon we visit That Luang shrine followed by a trip to Wa Prakeo home of the Emerald Buddha. The evening will be spent exploring this most peaceful of cities and experiencing Laotian cuisine. The following day we visit local markets and the beautiful Wat Si Saket Temple built in the 18th century. Vientiane is an ideal city for exploring by bicycle or on foot. There is plenty of time in the afternoon of day two to stroll around the city with its French-colonial buildings and robed clad Monks.

Day 3 & 4 Luang Prabang A short flight today takes us to Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos. For two days we explore this beautiful town, its former Royal Palace and nearby temples. The unique atmosphere of this town is a reminder of what days gone must have been like. On day four we take a trip out to the spectacular Kuang Si waterfalls followed by a trip to a weaving village where we will see production techniques that have changed very little over the years.

Day 5 Plain of Jars A morning flight takes us to Xieng Khouang to visit the mysterious Plain of Jars. While the origin purpose of the Plain of Jars is still unknown it is nevertheless a fascinating sight. We also pass by stockpiles of military equipment left over from the second Indochina war reminding us that this area was one of the most heavily bombed areas in history. Tonight we have our farewell dinner and drinks and look back over this fascinating five-day journey.

Day 6 Depart Laos Today is departure day. This morning we take a return flight to Vientiane. From Vientiane your group leader will take care of your onward travel arrangements and bid you farewell. You may depart at any time.
